The truth is inconvenient
standing tall among the hunkered lies –
Had I propped up all of my truths –
not just the ones that were easy to tell –
there would be no underbrush
from seeds of halfness strangling the roots.
Now I need a machete for the evasive words
in order to prune back the discomfort
and stand naked speaking the truth aloud –
if I hesitate the weeds spread.
Truth is sweaty work.
