Habit: Reflective Friday

Inspiration for today taken from habit.

A picture, a few words, a little mystery, that somehow form a visual journal of my previous week.

Have a great weekend, friends.

Our side porch dispels any Martha-magic going on inside.

School today: ancient calculations, beeswax mice, homemade grape juice.

I actually used the term “horse-whipped” and meant it.

The push-back was to be expected, however I didn’t feel the need to engage.

  1. handsaws and mini-weapon construction…sounds perfect. seriously, I am going to check that book out as we have a ridiculous amount of “I’m bored” going on around here. Next week, we’ll begin our lessons but it would be good to get his creative weapon juices flowing for when all the nerf darts are lost! have a great weekend – love to you all!

  2. OK that Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction is so COOL dude! Right up there with Pets in a Jar – I think I have two big boys around here that might still have fun with it. Way to sneak in the physics! Way to mix it up!
    Love, Alison

    • Vincent wanted me to tell you all that there is a sequel as well . . . Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction II.

Tom’s response to hearing the titles of both books and Pets in a Jar was, “These are fiction, right?”

      • Life is “stranger than fiction” as they say. Tell Vincent that I just showed Jack (18) the picture and he said ” I would have loved that book. .. wait, I still would love that book!” I think they need a play date:)

  3. Love the movement and flow from serenity (freshly updated classroom) to side porch (fun/chaos)! It’s where we all live. It’s been a busy week here. Headed to the beach today for restoration and a fresh perspective. Happy Friday, my friend!

    • Hi Lauren!

Oh my, I could not over-estimate how much he loves this book. He has built at least one thing every day for over a week now. I will warn you, however, I have no more pencils, pens, binder clips, paper clips, pins(!), matches(!), clothespins or rubber bands.

You may want to stop by the office supply store too.

Prepare to be the best sister ever!!

      Have a great weekend.

      • Thanks so much. I’m going to get it! He’s staying with me for a week and then I return him to mom right after his birthday. I’ll be sure to gift her a box of office supplies! :D
